Under the cllifs of Mosor in Omiš,where the Cetina River flows into the sea following its hundred kilometre long path along the gentle valleys of the Dalmatian Hinterland, forming the longest sandy beach,is the only place in the world where one can find “The House of the Happy Man”.In the 15th century,he had a sign engraved on his house that reads,”Thank you God,for letting me live in this world”.

The happiness of the medieval inhabitant of Omiš is not surprising, for this town, along with a number of the surrounding settlements on the Riviera which are cramped between the blue of the sea and the rugged mountain ranges, boasts of its tradition of private tourism accommodation for all those eager for a peaceful yet active vacation on the river, mountain,or by the sea.

The historical heart of the town still lives today on a rock that is difficult to scale and which used to serve as shelter from pirates, while today at its foot,on summer nights, one can hear the echo of the songs of acapella groups, which make this town famous. The Omiš Riviera is renowned for its wide sandy and gravel beaches as well as for its fresh water springs. In the Bay of Vrulja, with its cliffs hundreds of meters high that recklessly plunge into the sea,one can see one such spring of drinking water even on the sea surface.
